PinkyMate™ Bagpipe chanter accessibility tool
When a customer came to CCD needing help with accessibility, we knew we wanted to take on the challenge.
Our customer was in the process of starting to learn to play the bagpipes. The part of the bagpipe instrument where the fingers are placed is called the Chanter. Our customer has smaller hands and was not able to reach the bottom Chanter hole with their left pinky finger.
CCD designed and fabricated an attachment to be placed on the Chanter which reaches out to the left pinky finger, allowing that finger to depress a plug to fill the hole and effectively replacing what traditionally would be a larger pinky finger covering the hole to produce the desired musical notes.
This attachment is called the PinkyMate™, specially designed and fabricated for our customer’s specific needs. Our customer is now able to continue successfully with their pursuit of learning to play the bagpipes!
CCD’s ability to analyze the problem, design a solution, produce prototypes and finished parts is what we do best. If you are in need of help developing or designing a solution, please contact us and put our years of engineering expertise to work for you.
